The Pledge of Allegiance was first written in 1892 - “I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

In 1923 it was edited and then read - “I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

The final edit to the Pledge came in 1954, and reads the same today in Section 4 of the Flag Code - “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

We believe the the most important part of this pledge has remained since the very beginning - liberty and justice for all.

We have encased these words, made every day by school children across the nation, within the crown of the Mother of Exiles and the infamous Dissent jabot worn by the late Justice Ruth Bader-Ginsburg.

The crown from the statue of liberty creates a circle with Ruth Bader-Ginsburg's dissent jabot. Inside the circle created by these two are a cursive "liberty and justice" above a large "for all."
